This is broadly what the new SailorsFreedom will look like. I still have some significant changes to make in the details but I am pretty confident about the framework. Real updates are scheduled to start on November 10th, but you will probably have some blog posts from me in the meantime, and you can start commenting on new stuff right now if you want to.
I finally decided to stop riding my own entirely home-made jalopy welded out of scrap and bought a used car off the lot in the form of WordPress /Comic Press / Comic Easel. Actually it’s not a used car and the system is very customisable. Critically WordPress is allowing for a whole lot of stuff that I just didn’t have the time to write on my own. I had to decide if I was making this website because I wanted to program or because I wanted to draw. Programming can be fun, but it was becoming a chore that got in the way of making good artwork. So here is the new site and I hope you guys like it as much as I do, or at least that it doesn’t get in your way which is all I can really ask of an interface.
Well if you ever feel the need to work on something (if you get that bug of coding), I really enjoy seeing things contributed to Comic Easel/ComicPress.
And hiya
Sounds good to me. I have been working in wordpress for only about 3 weeks or so but I would be happy to help you add features. I took a stab at getting short-codes to work, but for some reason they didn’t. As soon as I figure that out though I am interested in creating a short code for [recent comic] that would allow a page to be created that would also display the most recent comic. I also am still working on my like button variation.
[[randcomic slug=book-1-page-1-returning-to-anchor]]
Would do it. You just type that into your post-editor section
uh, single bracket .. heh [randcomic slug=book-1-page-1-returning-to-anchor]
I realized after I posted the reply that is below (because I forgot to click in the right place) that I am asking the wrong question. What I am really trying to do is create a page that will always show the most recent comic. Something like a http://mysite/comic/recent/ or similar.
Perhaps a shortcode is not the right way to do it. I tried using shortcodes to make pages and found that it did not work for me. (trying to make a character page.)

Thats cool, and works exactly the way I would have hoped. Is there some place that those kind of arguments can be looked up?
Yes, that returns a specific comic, but I mean the most recent comic, whatever that may be. As far as I know there is currently no way to do that without some extra code being created.
